This picture of Christmas Angels was taken during our walk about the City Centre last Christmas. Angel has had significant meaning as a messenger of God to Mankind. It was the angel that announced the birth of Christ to the shepherds. “Do not be afraid,” said the angel, “for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (2.10-11).

A Christmas Swag? Now what is that, I had a liking for Christmas Swag because it can be very attractive and seasonal if it is nicely done. One look at it you will know that the holiday seasons has arrived. There are many designs and varieties of swags. I like a pine swag with red berries and ribbons and you can hang it anywhere you like, usually over the doorway , railing and wall. It can help transform the living room if it is correctly done. Flowers or foliage can be made into a swag too and if you are creative you can design your own swag and save a lot of money.

I like to collect Christmas cards and  as I look back I am happy that I did that, because now the trend of sending Christmas card is no more popular and in time to come we might not even know how a Christmas card looks like. I also like to buy Christmas card when I travelled, this pack of ten cards was purchased at one of the stores in Edinburgh. It is entitled Christmas With Dickens. It has that classic feels and it's my favourite.

A Christmas Poinsettia, this plant always reminds me that the holiday season is near. My family plant a lot of it and I grew up knowing it as a Christmas Plant. I like its jagged red bright leaves. Some people grow it as an indoor potted plant but in this part of the world where I lived it is sunny all year round so we grow Poinsettia out door. There are artificial Poinsettia flower too and it is just as attractive as the real plant.

My favourite corner at our family home is this wooden chair hand made by my dad. He was a trained Hospital Nurse during the British colonial time but I noted that he has got a capentry certificate too. During his life time, he like to built Garden hut, table, chairs and cabinet. My mom always complained that there were no place left to store all the handy work he has created but then we were never short of cabinet and table, that was the beauty of it. When Christmas time comes around I always like to look at this nostalgic corner and think of dad.

Delightful Christmas Cookie Jars, hand painted and produced with fine workmanship. These cookie jars stirred up holiday spirit and make you think of all the delicious Christmas cookies. I had two beautiful ceramic cookie jars which I used to store up surprises for Christmas. My favourite Christmas albums are these three albums by Jim Reeves, Brenda Lee and Pat Boone. Pat Boone was my father first Christmas vinyl, I like the jingle bell version he sang. I haven't heard anyone that has sung in such a version. Christmas wouldn't be complete without these albums. No doubt there are many new Yuletide songs in the market today but these are evergreen and nostalgic.

Christmas markets are  traditional market during advent in Europe. It originated from German ,the popular ones being held in Nuremberg and Dresden but there were many more in Europe. Over here nearer to Christmas we had the expatriate community organising their yearly Christmas Charity Bazaars which they held in one of the five star hotels. There were about 100 booths taking part and you will be spoilt for choice. I had been faithfully attending these bazaars annually. I enjoyed very much the festive atmosphere and being able to savour home made European cookies and cakes. Every year I and my son Jonathan look forward to attending a few of these bazaars.

Gingerbread and gingerbread house. The first time I made a gingerbread house was from a Betty Crocker recipe. I had bought her book and the recipes were easy. It did turn out satisfactorily though as you can see it from the picture. That was my first gingerbread house. As time goes by I became dexterous with it.

A Cross Stitch table topper I made a few years ago. It goes well with the pine chest. I have made two different designs. It was amazing how I can have the patience to do it, but it was worth it as it looks beautiful.
